Cooler nights and the feel of fall in the air it is also time for the new TV seasons to start.

 “Pam’s Pick” this week is “Bones are Forever” by Kathy Reichs. Her books are the inspiration for the Fox TV series “Bones.” Forensic anthropologist Tempe Brennan is faced with the difficult assignment. She is asked to assist in a case involving the mysterious deaths of three babies.


New Fiction:

“A Fool and his Honey” by Charlaine Harris, this is an Aurora Teagarden mystery. Roe’s life is going smooth when her husband’s niece shows up with a baby no one knew she had and disappears, leaving the baby and a murdered husband. Roe uncovers some dark family secrets to solve this mystery.


“Bad Faith” by Robert K. Tanenbaum, this is the story of a parent’s worst nightmare. DA Butch Karp has no problem prosecuting the Ellis’ after their son Micah dies from a treatable cancer at the hands of a snakeoil salesman, Rev. Westlund.


“The Light Between Oceans” by M. L. Stedman, this is an unforgettable and deeply moving novel. Lighthouse Keeper Tom Sherbourne and his wife have tried for years to have a baby. So when a boat with a dead man and a living baby wash ashore they keep her for their own. But problems arise when they go back to the mainland. Can they keep their secret?


Faith Bass Darling’s Last Garage Sale” by Lynda Rutledge, the heartfelt story about last chances, second chances, and chance itself. When Faith is called by God to sell all her belongings, she changes the lives of the whole town.


“Blood Line” by James Rollins, this is a Sigma Force novel. Sigma must race to save an innocent unborn baby, one who holds the key to a mystery and whose very existence raises questions about the nature of humanity.


“The Kingmaker’s Daughter” by Philippa Gregory, this is the gripping story of the daughters of the man known as “Kingmaker.” Edward IV uses his beautiful daughters as pawns in his political games.


“Sunrise Point” by Robyn Carr, this is a new Virgin River novel. Tom Cavanaugh returns to Virgin River to take over his family’s apple orchard and settle down, and despite his image of the perfect wife, he finds himself attracted to Nora Crane, a tough single mother who helps with harvest time at the orchard. This book is in large print.


“The Inquisitor’s
by Jefferson Bass, this is a Body Farm novel. When Miranda Lovelady and Dr. Bill Brockton discover what could be the bones of Jesus of Nazareth, their finding triggers a deadly tug-of-war between the anthropologists, the Vatican, and a deadly zealot who hopes to use the bones to bring about the Second Coming and trigger the end of time.


“Mortal” by Ted Dekker, this is the second book in the Books of Mortals series. Set in a terrifying, medieval future, where grim pageantry masks death, this tale of dark desires and staggering stakes peels back the layers of the heart for all who dare take the journey.


“Last to Die” by Tess Gerritsen, this is a Rizzoli & Isles thriller. Teddy Clock has survived not one but two massacres. But Det. Rizzoli is determined to protect this young man and put an end to the killer’s twisted quest.



New Christian Fiction:

“The Harbinger” by Jonathan Cahn, this is the story of an ancient mystery that holds the secret of America’s future.


“Tidewater Inn” by Colleen Coble, this is the first book in the new Hope Beach series, this book is in regular and large print. Libby inherits a beautiful old hotel. Soon she realizes her dream come true is becoming a nightmare.


“The Heart’s Frontier” by Lori Copeland and Virginia Smith, this is the first book in the Amish of Apple Grove series. Emma’s family is robbed on a trip to visit a relative. They pray for someone to help them. Luke had not planned on being the answer to anyone’s prayers but God has something else in mind.


“To Have and to Hold” by Tracie Peterson and Judith Miller, this is the first book in the Bridal Veil Island series. Audrey and her father go back to the island he grew up on.  Soon contractors are after their land and two men are after her heart.


“The Keeper” by Suzanne Woods Fisher, this is the first book in the Stoney Ridge Seasons series. When Paul postpones the wedding Julia blames Roman the Bee Keeper. Can Julia have the future she has always dreamed of or does God have other plans?



New Non-fiction:

“Killer on the Road” by Ginger Gail Strand, this is the story of 42,795 mile of Interstate and Highways and the killers who have preyed upon them, such as: “Hitcher,” the “Freeway Killer,” the “Killer on the Road,” the “I-5 Strangler,” and the “Beltway Sniper.”


“The Everything Whole Foods Cookbook” by Rachel Rappaport, this book features over 300 recipes for every occasion.


“Treacherous Beauty” by Mark Jacob and Stephen H. Case, this is the story of Peggy Shippen, the woman behind Benedict Arnold’s plot to betray America.


“The Betrayal of the American Dream” by Donald L. Barlett and James B. Steele, this is the story of how the American middle class has been impoverished and for more than thirty years big business and the government have conspired to roll back the American dream.


“Kingdom Man” by Tony Evans, this book is a six part study to help men discover their hidden strength through the Kingdom of God.


“Fire and Rain: The Beatles, Simon & Garfunkel, James Taylor, CSNY and the Lost Story of 1970” by David Browne, this book featuring candid interviews with more than 100 luminaries, including some of the artists themselves.
