Library Notes for February 1, 2017
Do you know what the New York Public Library’s number one check out for 2016 was? You might think it would be: “NYPD Red 4” by James Patterson. But it isn’t. It was “The Girl on the Train” by Paula Hawkins. So, what was the number one check out at John L. Street Library? It was “Lone Heart Pass” by Jodi Thomas. Have you read it yet? Several patrons have.
We have a lot going on at the library this month! We are having a Pokémon Scavenger Hunt- ask at the front desk for a scavenger hunt form. Find all the Pokémon in the library and win a Pokémon. This Saturday, February 4th at 1:00 in the basement of the library President George Washington will be here to tell us all about his life and being the first president of the United States. On Saturday, February 18th Alyssa Foster will be in the library board room to “Show & Tell” us more about the Blind and the useful things the blind use every day to help them. She is a delightful young lady who is willing to share her knowledge. She will be here from 9:00-12:00. I hope you will stop by and enjoy this busy month at your library!
“Pam’s Pick” this week is: “Ring of Fire” by Brad Taylor, this is a Pike Logan novel. Pike Logan, Jennifer Cahill and the Taskforce race against time to stop catastrophic events in multiple locations, set by a terrorist group attacking the U.S.
New Fiction: “The Sleepwalker” by Chris Bohjalian, “Never Never” by James Patterson, “The Old Man” by Thomas Perry, “Iris and Lily: book two” by Angela Scipioni, and “The Mistress” by Danielle Steel.
New Christian Fiction: “Which Way Home?” by Linda Byler, this is the second book in the Hester’s Hunt for Home series, and “Because You’re Mine” by Colleen Coble.
New Large Print: “Shawn O’Brien: Better Off Dead” by William W. Johnstone.
New Mystery: “Dead and Breakfast” by Kate Kingsbury, this is the first book in the Merry Ghost Inn series.
New Biographies: “Three Days in January: Dwight Eisenhower’s Final Mission” by Bret Baier, and “Inside the NFL’s First Family: My Life of Football, Faith, and Fatherhood” by Bruce Matthews.

The library will be closed February 20 in observance of Presidents Day.
