Disc Golf

Disc golf is a sport similar to regular golf, but instead of using clubs and balls, players use discs. Here’s a simple breakdown of the rules:

  1. Objective: The goal is to get the disc into a basket in as few throws as possible.

  2. Course: A disc golf course typically has 9 or 18 holes, with each hole starting from a tee pad and ending in a basket.

  3. Tee-off: To start a hole, players throw their disc from the designated tee area.

  4. Throwing: Players continue throwing from the spot where their disc lands until it lands in the basket. Players must throw from behind the spot where the previous throw landed, except on the tee, where you throw from the designated tee area.

  5. Out of Bounds: If a disc lands out of bounds (e.g., in water or outside the course boundary), players must take a penalty throw and continue from the point where the disc went out.

  6. Par: Each hole has a “par” (the expected number of throws it should take to complete the hole). The goal is to complete the hole in as few throws as possible.

  7. Scoring: A lower score is better. For example:

    • Par: You get the disc in the basket in the expected number of throws.

    • Birdie: One throw under par.

    • Bogey: One throw over par.

  8. Winning: The player with the fewest total throws after completing all the holes wins.

    Course Courtesy

    • Remain quiet and avoid unnecessary movements while others are throwing.
    • Stand behind the player who is throwing until throw is complete.
    • Help new players learn the rules.
    • Allow faster groups to play through when possible.
    • Do not alter the course (trees, bushes, etc.) in any way.
    • If you find another player’s discs, check the back to see if there is a phone number to contact them and return it.
