Library notes for 9 January

In winter we sit around and dream of warmer weather. So, how about planning that vacation now? “Pam’s Picks” this week are all travel books. It’s never too early to plan a vacation. “Fodor’s New England 2013,” “Fodor’s Washington, D.C. 2013,” “Fodor’s Chicago 2013,” “Lonely Planet Discover Las Vegas,” and “Fodor’s Northern California 2013.” Happy travels.

 

New Fiction:

“Daughter of Light” by V.C. Andrews, this is the second book in the Kindred series. Lorelei is haunted by family secrets and hungry for a taste of life. Can this child of darkness ever truly feel safe in the light of day?

 

“Fox Tracks” by Rita Mae Brown, this is a thrilling new mystery in the Foxhunting series. Sister Jane and the other boisterous company of horses and hounds are looking to solve a string of murders sweeping the East Coast. The Alliance must smoke out the killer who may be closer than they think.

 

“Honeysuckle Summer” by Sherryl Woods, this is a Sweet Magnolias novel. Raylene is thankful for her friends at Sweet Magnolias. She meets Deputy Carter Rollins and soon knows he is a man worth loving but she may never be strong enough to accept what he is offering.

 

“Two Graves” by Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child, this is the third book in the Helen trilogy. FBI Special Agent Aloysius Pendergast discovers his beloved wife is alive. Shortly after her return she is abducted before his eyes. And Pendergast embarks on a cross country mission to rescue her. Will he find her in time?

 

“Redoubt” by Mercedes Lackey, this is the fourth book in the Collegium Chronicles, a novel of Valdemar.

Mags, a young Herald trainee in Haven, has talents not commonly found in trainees. The King’s Own Herald decides to train Mags as a spy in order to uncover the secrets of a mysterious new enemy who has taken an interest in Mags himself.

 

 

New Large Print:

“Marry Me” by Jo Goodman, this is a Zebra Historical Romance. Doc Monroe has his hands full with his orphaned sister. But when Rhyne collapse and has nowhere to go, he wants more than anything to take care of her.

 

“Black Mesa” by Zane Grey, this is a western adventure. Paul Manning is looking for adventure but does not expect to find a hell-hole like Bitter Seeps, or met a man as crooked as Belmont.

 

 

New Christian Fiction:

“To Whisper Her Name” by Tamera Alexander, this is a Belle Meade Plantation novel. Ridley is trying to make peace with himself for betraying the South, and his love Olivia is determined to never be betrayed again.

 

“Firethorn” by Ronie Kendig, this is the fourth book in the Discarded Heroes series. Nightshade member Griffin is charged with murder and Kazi Faron is in charge of getting him out. Kazi has a secret and it could get everyone killed.

 

 

New Non-fiction:

“Mossad” by Michael Bar-Zohar and Nissim Mishal, these are the greatest missions of the Israeli secret service.

 

“Heart Felt Knits” by Tamara Mello, this book has patterns for 25 knitted felting projects.

 

“Family Spaces” by Candice Olson, this book will inspire you to create your dream family room.

 

“The World of Downton Abbey” by Jessica Fellowes, this book unlocks the secrets and history for the PBS Masterpiece. The third season started last Sunday, January 6.
